Welcome, and thank you for visiting Kingston Counselling Services.
We can sometimes find ourselves going through difficult times in our lives – fear, loneliness, grief, anger or guilt. You could be going through a crisis such as bereavement or a sudden change in a relationship or work. Counselling can help to make sense and meaning and to support you through a crisis in your life.
I am a warm, friendly and approachable Counsellor. My core training was the person-centred approach. I feel that this approach is a strong foundation to work from. I am a professionally qualified Counsellor and a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP (Accred) and I adhere to their Ethical Framework for counselling professionals. I will provide a safe base for you to explore your current thoughts, feelings and personal experiences.
People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner". I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of Counselling. The therapeutic relationship can provide you with a safe base to feel truly heard, accepted and understood in a non-judgemental and confidential environment.
My own personal life experiences are what motivated me to train as a Counsellor. I trained as a Counsellor for five years and it was during that time that I found my passion for the person-centred approach, which primarily puts the client at the centre of the relationship. Although the experience has taught me that ‘one size does not fit all’ I now integrate skills and techniques from other approaches as appropriate to each individual client.
My aim is that therapy will be a collaborative, personalised, authentic and rewarding experience. During sessions, I may use psychoeducation where I feel this may be beneficial to you to enable you to gain an understanding and to increase self-awareness. I believe that a client should have a ‘toolbox’ to use following their therapy journey. I am currently working in private practice in Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne, in addition to Cradle - a National Baby Loss Charity.
I also offer Clinical Supervision, using the Seven Eyed Model of Supervision as a Framework. I currently work with trainees, fully qualified counsellors and group supervision. My approach to supervision is founded on the person-centred approach. I will provide you with a safe space to talk without judgement and promise to support you on your individual journey. I will encourage you in your work with your clients and will offer a collaborative way of working. I have a passionate belief that this is at the heart of good supervision. I also believe that good supervision is the experience of taking issues that cause the most anxiety but feeling okay in yourself to take them.
I aim to explore the therapeutic relationship with your clients, along with guidance, facilitating ideas and using gentle challenge that could prove helpful in the therapeutic work you do with your clients. I will always try to meet you where you are, so that we can find ways that are the most helpful for you.
Session usually take place weekly (As per BACP Guidelines) - I understand that this is not always possible due to cost and bi-weekly is also an option. Session last around 50 minutes, followed by a summary of the session and booking in your next appointment. Counselling and Supervision sessions are priced at £55 for face to face. Telephone and online (zoom) sessions are £35 (1 hr) and Supervision £50 (1.5 hrs). I also offer discounted rates for students/ unemployed. Prior to starting therapy, a free initial telephone assessment will be carried out to further discuss your needs and for you to answer any questions that you may have. It is also good to ensure that we are a 'good fit' and that I am the right counsellor for you.
I attend monthly supervision, hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate, I am fully insured and adhere to data protection laws. In addition, I believe that in the field of Counselling, learning is an ongoing process and I am fully committed to regular CPD to enhance and further my existing knowledge and skills. In addition to best practice, published research and guidance issued by NICE guidelines.
I work on both a short and long term basis with individuals over 16 to help them overcome barriers and gain invaluable self-awareness.
I offer counselling and clinical supervision from my practice in Wallsend, Tyne And Wear, NE28 and Gosforth, Tyne And Wear, NE3. Online sessions are also available via Zoom, allowing me to reach clients across the UK.
